The Warner, New Hampshire-rooted Don Guano & the Lo-Fi Rebellion was formed in the summer of 2014.

A blend of original, acoustic-electric songs were what followed for a group named after its mandolin player, Don Allard, otherwise known as Don Guano.

As for where the lo-fi aspect factored in – the modern music industry has created a standard for what the listener is allowed to hear. Sometimes that sees 100 audio tracks mixed down into one song; oftentimes that approach will never be replicated in front of an audience. But in order to preserve the tone and convey the message, DGLFR’s songs continue to be played with the same unfiltered, unpasteurized, cage-free, grass-fed, non-GMO, Grade-A certified organic approach onstage as in the studio.

To the ear, the gap should be narrow between the two. It's all live.

  • Acoustic guitar, bass, vocals: Ira Thomas
  • Electric guitar: Russ Walker
  • Mandolin: Don Allard
  • Drums: Oliver Thomas

That means you'll hear bass playing through the top two strings of an acoustic guitar, delay through a mandolin, and at times, vocal harmonics that cut through distortion like quinoa cuts through a kale salad.

Does quinoa really do that? Hard to say. Is it all one big contradiction? Guess you'll have to find out.

Frequenting central New Hampshire, Don Guano & the Lo-Fi Rebellion have made recent stops at The Local and the Jim Mitchell Amphitheater in Warner, the Salt Hill Pub Shanty in Newbury, the Covered Bridge Restaurant in Contoocook, the Henniker Brewing Company in Henniker, and the North Buick Lounge in North Berwick, Maine.
